At the time they contacted NIVIS, all of the client’s business querying was performed against existing OLAP systems, requiring complex and time-consuming processing that left those systems exposed to compromised performance.
The reporting system in place struggled to provide timely, consistent, reliable, and digestible information to the organization. As misinformation was generated, confusion occurred in its wake.
In place of this unsophisticated and unsecured system, the company wanted to deploy a newly purchased enterprise Business Intelligence platform.
They also wanted corporate scorecards and dashboards, along with the data marts and integration processes necessary to support them. This would allow them to extract and analyze data from one common framework.
In addition, they needed systems that would automate investment transactions and analyze and model the performance of their clients’ portfolios.
Such a reporting component could consolidate the view of overall performance across business units and different funds. That would drive a streamlined and consistent delivery of information to investors and employees. It would also ensure that all information had undergone a thorough audit process.
We performed a complete audit of the client’s existing reports, interviewing internal consumers of data to thoroughly assess their needs.
We designed and implemented dimensional data marts to organize and impose conformity on data.
We deployed the selected BI platform to the entire organization. Our solution provided access to information on asset performance at both fund and individual levels. The solution also enables monitoring of system usage for effectiveness.
The corporate dashboards and reports that NIVIS implemented have enhanced our client’s business clarity for better business decisions.
The initial assignment lasted 5 months. NIVIS was first brought in by the client’s finance department, but project work for the client is ongoing.
Additional solutions within the common framework include general BI project work, support and maintenance of ETL jobs and new reports. Projects have been implemented for the Real Estate, Equity Management, Accounting, HR, & IT departments.
